Nestled in the heart of historic Downtown Chambersburg, the Quarters at the Shook offers Residential Living in a vibrant atmosphere. With convenient, onsite parking, residents may either drive their own vehicles or ride the facility’s bus to nearby retailers, eateries, physicians’ offices and medical centers. Either way, residents may enjoy time away knowing the facility’s laundry and housekeeping staff are tending to their personal effects. After a “day on the town,” residents can return “home” to our intimate accommodations. With three styles of semi-furnished private rooms from which to choose, there is a room type to fit almost everyone’s preferences. With only 45 beds, the Quarters at the Shook is analogous to the small, close-knit communities that evoke childhood memories in all of us. Only at the Quarters can residents experience this home-town feel while enjoying all the exciting benefits of a downtown location.
Residential Living at the Quarters at the Shook provides apartment-style living for residents desiring the comfort and security of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) but who don’t yet require any supportive services. Residents can partake in three meals a day in the facility’s dining room and enjoy carefree living while the housekeeping and laundry staff attend to their daily needs. Residents may also take advantage of a variety of ancillary services to enable them to achieve their highest practicable level of physical, emotional, and spiritual well being.
Should a Residential Living Resident require supportive services due to the progression of a chronic illness or the onset of an acute condition, Personal Care services are available. The Quarters at the Shook takes a wholistic, person-in-environment approach to resident care. As a result, residents’ receive comprehensive, individualized Support Plans developed by our Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in conjunction with them and their families. The IDT consists of a resident’s family physician, a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Physical Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech Therapist, a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist, a Registered Dietitian, and a Chaplain. Off-site specialists, optometrists, dentists, and psychiatrists are consulted as needed. Transportation to and from medical appointments is provided free of charge within a ten mile radius of the facility.
The Support Plan developed by the IDT is carried out on a day-to-day basis by a team of caring professionals. At the core of this team is our nursing staff. Comprised of Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Aides, and Personal Care Attendants, our nursing staff offers an exceptional combination of skill and genuine compassion. Because the Quarters at the Shook staffing ratios exceed the Department of Human Services’ requirements, nursing staff have an opportunity to develop a rapport with the residents and anticipate their needs. And, with a Skilled Nursing Facility on campus, the Quarters at the Shook provides peace of mind to residents and their families alike.
The security of these comprehensive services is available to residents for a discounted monthly rent upon the payment of an entrance fee. No maintenance fees apply! Residential Living at The Quarters at the Shook provides the lifestyle residents deserve in their Golden Years!!
