What levels of care are offered at The Shook Home and The Quarters?

The Shook Home offers a spectrum of services and accommodations. We offer skilled nursing home care, personal care and residential living – all on one in-town campus!

Will Medicare pay for Nursing Care?

Medicare may pay for a limited amount of time in Nursing Care under certain medical conditions. For more information on skilled benefits under Medicare: www.medicare.gov.

Will Medicare pay for Personal Care?

Currently, personal care is a lower acuity level of care and is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. There are several levels of care within The Quarters at The Shook’s personal care facility which may make it more cost effective and attractive for those who are eligible for residential and personal care.

Will Medicare cover the cost of Residential Living?

Residential Living at The Quarters is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid but does offer a Continuing Care Retirement Community discount for those who are eligible.

How do I know what level of care is appropriate for me or my loved one?

A Shook Home representative will speak with you or your loved one to review your options. A recommendation will also be obtained through your physician.

Are meals provided at The Shook Home?

Three meals a day are provided to residents of The Shook Home and The Quarters. Choices are abundant and a tasty home cooked meal is served by staff in one of three dining areas – depending on the level of care needed. Special diets are accommodated and fun, family style meals and events are planned as well.

Where is the Shook Home and The Quarters located?

The Shook Home and The Quarters is located in the heart of Chambersburg, a community rich with history and heritage. Residents are centrally located in the center of town and can walk to local restaurants and stores. Transportation is also provided by the facility for other shopping destinations and cultural events.

Who is a good candidate for Residential Living?

Residential Living at The Quarters offers social and recreational activities, meals and a secure and carefree lifestyle for those residents who want independence but do not desire to live alone in the community.

What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?

The C.C.R.C. permits The Shook Home to offer a discount for Residential Living Residents through a residency agreement. It allows those residents who choose to live at The Quarters the ability to make available an alternative payment option which may offer them a daily discount on their room rates for as long as they choose to remain at The Quarters at The Shook Home.

How long has The Shook Home been serving older adults?

The Shook Home has a long history in Chambersburg. It has been in existence since 1918 and continues to provide the finest in care by friendly, professional trained staff.
